All righty, so I've posted a lot of my Hordes figurines. I've mentioned before, I have other ones, too, and I finally got around to painting one of mine from the game Malifaux. Unfortunately, I never got to play the game except for once, because it kind of died out at our store. But, things come in waves--it'll eventually come back.
And so, I have my model for Lady Justice painted.
And here she is. I love the model--also because it didn't require assembly--and I think this is the older version. There's a new one of her out as well. On the box, Miss Justice is clothed in black with red hair--well, I like to switch things.
Her clothes are kind of a dark teal color, the pants just being a little darker than the top, and I washed over them with a black wash to give them a bit of a worn look. I used gold as an accent color on her top and on her belts, both because I love the blue and gold color combination, and it's an awesome paint color I haven't gotten to use much. Her boots were just black with the silver front, trimmed with the same gold. Her sheath for her sword is actually two different shades of red.
She was painted after Barbie Lylyth, so I was wanting to do another blond hair color. I mixed the yellow and the white the same as I did for Lylyth, but with each layer, I added a little more red to get this strawberry blond color. I quite like it in combination with her blue outfit. And for the blindfold, I thought red would be a nice contrasting color.
Over all, I am very pleased with how she turned out. I can wait to paint the rest of my Malifaux models, as they are all beautiful, so I will hopefully be doing that very soon.

Fyanna the Lash--new character solo!
Haha, sooooo, she came out on Friday the 13th. I was checking Facebook after work when I saw a posting from the game store I go to, Armored Gopher Games, announcing the new stuff that was in, and saw she was finally out.
Now, I've been waiting on her, because she sounds super fun to play. I've been excited for months.
She wasn't even on the shelf a half hour before I snatched her up. Teehee! She was assembled Friday evening and painted by Saturday. What can I say--I love to paint, and she was a really cool model.
And here she is--Fyanna the Lash! So, we'll go over her paint first, then her awesome shit. Since she is still Blighted Nyss, I did my usual light purple skin. It was actually a lavendar color and I thought it looked lovely. Her armor was actually painted bronze then highlighted with silver--the opposite of what I usually do. There were bandage looking bits on her legs and the arm holding the lash, so I just painted those white and dirtied them up with a black wash. Her hair I actually painted a dark red color with just a bit of purple mixed in, and her...cloth bit? Not sure what to call it, but the cloth she is wearing is another purpley-red color. The barbed lash is just a silver with some black wash. I mean, it's a chain--not much detailing to do there. ^^ I could have painted the barbs, but decided not to. There were some bone bits on her, like her spine and her claws.
Now, in combat, she is really neat. Ever time she makes a normal melee attack with her lash, which is a Power/Strength 12 Reach weapon--Reach means it has a two-inch melee range, which is much more than the usual half inch--she picks from three options. There is Dismember, which gives her an additional damage die against warbeasts. This would be awesome--if most people didn't play Warmachine with warjacks. I don't often get to face other Hordes players, but it's whatever.
Another option is Pitch--in which she throws you. Just gets to throw you, no matter how big you are. If she hits you, it is as if she passed the strength test and just sends that heavy warjack of yours in another direction. "Get out of my face!" This is handy because, after you are thrown, you are knocked down--and can automatically be hit. Ooooouch.
The last option is Beatback, in which, after the attack is resolved, the enemy model can be pushed one inch away from her and she can advance one inch. And, on her action her melee reach is four inches--so that means she can bring a lot more models in to her melee reach. Or, get you away from her so you are out of melee if you don't have Reach on your weapons. Now, she has Rapid Strike as well--which just means she can make an additional melee attack each combat action. Automatically, she gets two attacks. Ouch.
In addition, her weapon ignores the Buckler and Shield weapon qualities and Shield wall. Then she has Evasive, in which you can't make free strikes against her, and Prowl, which gives her stealth in concealment or cloud effects.
Needless to say, I am super excited to play her in a game. :D

The Ravagore!
All righty! I'll be posting a couple today--I've got lots of downtime and did a good bit of painting this past weekend.
But first, I'll be posting the Ravagore. He's the third option in the Heavy Warbeast box, of which the other two options are the Scythean and Carnivean. The other two are mostly melee, and while this guy is good at melee as well, he also has a really powerful ranged attack. He has a Blight Blast, which is a Power 15 attack with a range of 14 inches and does an AOE, or area of effect, of 3 inches. It does both fire damage and corrosion damage and the AOE stays in play for one round. His animus can also cause the Continuous Effect: Fire so things will actually stay on fire. Woot!
Doesn't he look cuddly?
Obviously, I did a different paint job on him. I was trying to switch things up a bit and still keep my theme color. His skins is purple with a purple wash, and the bone bits are my usual white base coat with a sepia wash. I had an interesting time painting his fire--I started with a really light blue for a base coat, then used two or three dark colors, building up on it. The glow on his face came out a little better than I thought it would. Over all, I'm happy with him. I haven't had much chance to use him in combat, but I'm certainly planning on doing so in the future.

Barbie Lylyth!
All righty, I've been going in order for a while in how I painted, but I've decided to say MEH and go in order however I wish. So, last night, I had my wonderful friend Katie come on over and we had a painting session. I've been talking about painting a Barbie-themed Lylyth for quite a while because I had an extra model of her. Well, Katie found a perfect pink for me, and I finally got to.
And here is Barbie Lylyth! Spent all of our painting session on her. I look at her and think Superhero. What do you think? I'm totally going to use her in game someday just because she looks really cool. Stylish AND kickass--what more could you want?
The paint took a bit to get used to because it is actually an enamel, as Katie told me. Shiny and hard on my brushes, though Dawn dish soap cleaned them right up, I think it came out really well. I was unsure on mixing it, but it came out all right--that's how I got the varied effects on the cloak. I also added a darker pink to the mix to get the shadows on her cloak, because I don't like to make things darker with just black--I like to darken them with a similar color so it still has a vibrancy to it. I painted all of her armor that pink, then went and dry brushed silver over it to pull out those details and switch it up a bit. I thought just a straight white would look nice in contrast, and I was right. I didn't have any yellow for her hair, so I actually used a gold metallic I have and dulled it a bit with white. Hey, blond hair kind of shines--that was what I told myself. All in all, I am very pleased with how she turned out. I love the Lylyth model in general, so now I have two--a purple one and a pink one. ^^

New blog!
All righty, everyone! I know I haven't been doing much blogging, but I have an excuse for that. The site I was using suddenly wouldn't let me in to my blog, even though I could log in just fine and I could type in the blog's address and it would go to that site. After sending multiple questions about it, I have decided that I will just switch to a new blog site. :) And here we are.
The previous blog's address was dragonpainter.blog.com. I'm not sure if it is working right now, because Blog.com isn't opening in my browser, so whatevs. But! My previous ones are all on there, should you like to read them.
And so, in this new blog, I will continue to post my paintings and what not. I ramble in them sometimes, as you may know, if you have previously read them. I still have quite a bit of catching up to do for all my painting, so I'm looking forward to posting once more!
Thank you all!
Hugs,
Dragon Painter/Chelsea
