All right! And here's the model I've spent most of today working on--my conversion of Proteus, with his Death Jack trophies!
Isn't he wonderful?! All right, so Proteus--he's a character heavy warbeast, which means you can only take one of him. And he's pretty much a Carnivean upgrade. Instead of the usual 4 Fury that most of my heavies can have, Proteus can have 5. He also has an ability called Herding, which means the warlock can force, reave, leach, heal, and transfer damage to other warbeasts that are in his command range. That pretty much gives the warlock an extra 7 inches of control from him. His Tentacle Lash, which is a range 6 ranged weapon, has Chain Weapon and Drag. Chain Weapon ignores Buckler and Shield and Shield Wall, which is handy. From what I've heard, Drag has gotten better--if he damages an enemy model with an equal or small base, they can be pushed any distance directly towards him. After being moved, Proteus can then make one normal melee attack against that model. Then I can continue to make additional melee attacks. Oh, and did I mention he also had a weapon with Reach, then two Open Fist melee attacks? And the Reach weapon also has Chain Weapon, and it also has Pull, which means if it hits a model with an equal or small base, it can be pushed any distance toward this model. Kinda like Drag, only for melee. He's pretty rude, yeah.
As for the painting and converting, I ordered some Death Jack parts off of the Privateer Press online store to use for the conversion. We have a challenge for our league this time to convert a model to have "trophies" or bits from other models. I decided on Death Jack because A) it will irritate Cryx players and B) Death Jack is overrated. He's good, but there's other good stuff, too. Just like my Carnivean--he's good, but I have other good stuff I like to play as well. So Proteus is holding the head within his tentacles and climbing over the shoulder pad (see in top picture) and the carapace (below).
Anyway, I love this model, and I can't wait to use him in a game soon. Peace out!

Nephilim Protector
My first light warbeast!
This is my Nephilim Protector. Look a bit different from my other beasts? Perhaps that because of all that armor he has on. And, ya know, the giant halberd he's wielding.
This guy wasn't too hard, actually, and I still enjoyed painting him. I wanted my armor to be a bit different from how I usually do my infantry armor because, well, he's a beast. So I went with a blue that I mixed with some silver to give it a bit of a sheen. The spikes are a dark bronze color and the detailing and siding are all a light silver. His weapon matches, of course. His skin I actually based as a plain gray, then just went and put several layers of violet over it to give him the usual purple look.
Now, there's supposed to be a few more pieces on him--two wings stubs up on his back, beside his spines. Weeeeeell, I lost one. Oops. So I just decided I'd leave off the other one as well. I mean, why does he even have them to begin with? He doesn't fly.
Now, he's not a game changing piece, but he is pretty handy. This is a piece you keep near your warlock, because he has Shield Guard, which means if a friendly model that is within two inches of him is hit by a ranged attack, he can take the damage instead. He also has Empathic Transference, which means a warlock can transfer damage to him even if he is full on fury, which normally, you cannot do. Handy, like I said. He's got a couple of other tricks, but like I said, he isn't a game changing piece, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have him around. I've used him a couple times and he's helped my warlock several times. ^^

Servath Reznik, the Wrath of Ages
I have completed my first commission model! And it was a doozy, all right--a huge based model! Bah! I completed it for the owner of our wonderful game store, the Armored Gopher Games, so I hope he'll be happy with it. :)
Boom! Side view. As you can see, it is pretty large. Very detailed. Lots of bits...Nah, I had fun painting it. Unlike a lot of people, I actually enjoy the painting process--making little color decisions, deciding what goes where, seeing it all go from my brain on to the actual model...Love it. I painted it the Menoth colors, which was what Dave had requested, and tried to stick as close to it as I could. A few little changes, but overall, I think I did pretty well. I'm not going to go in to too much detail on the colors--there was A LOT of color mixing. This took me several weeks to get completed, especially with lots of working and getting back to school and our Warmachine/Hordes league starting up again. But I finally got it done!
Just look at this guy! I mean, c'mon, he totally looks like he would run you down without even a second glance.
Anyway, I'm happy with the results and I hope Dave is, too. It was a fun model--and I don't plan on painting something that big again for a long time. ^^ Anyway, that's that! I've gotten a good bit of work done today, so onwards!

Been a while...
Okay! So, I know it has been a while since I last posted something, but my painting is on a bit of a hiatus. I'm not painting any of my models currently because I am waiting until our WarmaHordes league is started up again, where I can score them for points when they are painted. :)
Also, just ordered a couple of warjack parts to use in a conversion, which will be a painting challenge next league. I ordered Death Jack parts that I will be using on my Proteus model--because Proteus is a badass. :) And he will look even more badass with a Death Jack head clutched in his claw. Whoo!
Also again, I am currently working on a commission model for someone. It is a huge model and taking forever, but it is really fun and I hope I can post it on here when it is finished. :) My first commission! Wish me luck!
And on that note, I'm out! Got some stuff to do, might do some work on that model I just mentioned. See ya!
